Hancock – Austin, Texas

/Hancock – Austin, Texas

Hancock is located directly due north of The University of Texas at Austin campus and reflects Central Austin’s diversity of architectural styles, home sizes, and price points. The architecture of most Hancock homes for sale ranges from tiny craftsman bungalows and traditional ranches to contemporary condos. Houses average almost 2,000 square feet, and over the years, many have been renovated or expanded to take advantage of their prime area within the city.  While some of the homes may look modest, the location within the city, beautiful architecture, and lovely, shaded streets, keep this neighborhood in high demand for potential homeowners.

Drive north out of Downtown Austin on I-35 N.  Take Exit 236 at Dean Keeton Street, and turn left under the freeway onto E 38 1/2 Street.  This location is the center of Hancock and its surrounding community.  Duval Street provides the western border of this neighborhood.

Residents in these neighborhood homes appreciate having The University of Texas at Austin and its many festive events nearby.  Residents also have St. David’s Medical Center, Hancock Public Golf Course, Eastwoods Neighborhood Park and Wading Pool, and Hancock Shopping Center all within the neighborhood.  Because the UT Austin campus just blocks away, the area has a “college” feel. Local restaurants, as well as an HEB grocery store on Red River Street, are all there providing comfortable, easy access to fun and convenient fulfillment for the community.

Austin ISD serves students in this community. Lee Elementary School (K-5), Kealing Middle School (6-8), and McCallum High School (9-12) are the assigned schools for this neighborhood.
