Milwood is a large neighborhood consisting of thousands of homes over several miles and stretching into two counties (Travis and Williamson). Built mainly in the mid-1980s to mid-1990s, the average home listing in Milwood is 3 to 4 bedrooms and 1,500 to 2,500 square feet. However, these homes come in almost any size and floor plan. Houses in this community have exteriors of brick or stone, and are one to two stories with 2-car garages. Inside these homes boast beautiful hardwood floors, granite countertops, and stainless steel appliances. They also feature elegant floor designs with second living areas, formal dining rooms, and fireplaces. Properties tend to be about a quarter acre or less and often include covered patios, sizable decks, and hot tubs for outdoor entertaining.
WHERE IS MILWOOD?
This neighborhood runs from Amherst Drive to Anderson Mill Road, a stretch of close to five miles. About 15 miles north of Downtown Austin, it is accessible via Mopac Expressway. After about 11 miles from downtown on Mopac, exit Parmer Lane. Turn left on Parmer Lane and cross Amherst Drive into the Milwood community.
THINGS TO DO NEAR MILWOOD
Due to its proximity to several major freeways, residents can easily reach the majority of the Greater Austin area. The area is affluent with shopping centers, with Lakeline Mall, The Domain, and the Arboretum all within five miles. At the southern edge of the community, Balcones District Park provides walking trails along Walnut Creek as well as basketball and volleyball courts, playgrounds, and a pool. Homeowners have their pick of grocery stores, restaurants, and entertainment as these businesses line all the major roadways in the area.
Students attend either Austin ISD or Round Rock ISD schools. The Austin ISD schools are Summitt Elementary (PK-5), Murchison Middle (6-8), and Anderson High School (9-12). The Round Rock ISD schools are Pond Springs Elementary (PK-5), Jollyville Elementary (PK-5), Deerpark Middle (6-8), Canyon Vista Middle (6-8), McNeil High (9-12) and Westwood High School (9-12).
