Western Trails is an established neighborhood in South Austin featuring homes both close to shopping areas and nature. Joslin Neighborhood Park is less than a mile away, and provides courts and fields, a playground, and walking trails. Sunset Valley Nature Area is nearby with additional trails for mountain biking and walking. Traveling west of the neighborhood for just a few minutes residents will also find a Whole Foods and Costco Wholesale center. Nearby Westgate shopping center offers a host of restaurant and shopping options, including a Central Market grocery store and eatery. Also, this shopping center is completed with the Regal Westgate movie theater. Downtown Austin is a short jaunt with nightly live music, cultural events, and eclectic dining options.
The Austin ISD serves the students of this neighborhood. Younger students attend either Sunset Valley Elementary (PK-5) or Joslin Elementary (PK-5) while older students attend Covington Middle (6-8) and Crockett High School (9-12).
